Is Slavery OK?
Slavery seems to have been going on for thousands of years the: Greeks, Romans and later on the Americans were all involved is either selling or using slavery for their own gain. The slave trade made vast amounts of money which went into to the family of sailors, merchants and plantation owners. In the plantation the slave traders bought in the slaves for a few dollars selling each one, every one making hundreds of dollars profit on each slave sold. If slaves have family’s they sell the children. If you have hundreds of slaves then you’d make pots of cash..
People invented stories to keep trading going, they said that taking Africans from their homeland actually benefited them and that was legal according to the bible. They also caused many arguments in politics stating that the French and Dutch would come and take everything from them if they didn’t trade!
The anti-slavery society was not happy about what was going on and what was going on and decided to shut it down. Wilberforce and his MP friend’s tried for years to stop but it never worked until one day in the 1800’s he won.800,000 slaves were set free. People found evidence of the wretched conditions.
William and his friends stopped this, but it still goes on but not as bad as it was then.
