Should Africans have been treated this way?

Slavery has been with us for many years. It began with the Ancient Greeks and the Vikings and the Americans soon began capturing Africans and putting them into Slavery. A man called William Wilberforce fought hard for Slavery to stop, eventually, 800,000 slaves were immediately released.

There isn’t a doubt that the money brought into countries who were included in the ‘Slave Triangle’ helped to fuel Slavery. Many people believed that they did this so the captain of the ship would become wealthy, buying power and influence. Everyone should be treated exactly the same and not go into being a Slave.

There were several reasons used by the anti-slavery lobby. On the one hand, if something is wrong, it is wrong whether others did it or not. On the other hand, the slavery that existed in Africa was very different from the Transatlantic Slave Trade. However, the trade was damaging to Africa and William Wilberforce summed this up in his speech in 1789. The Africans suffered greatly from being removed from their homeland. Some people say that the slaves jumped overboard when they got the chance so they didn’t have to be ion the slave ship for 6 months just to be sold.

Slavery has been an issue for many years and continues to be. Thanks to William Wilberforce (WW) and his friends, millions of people in Slavery returned to their homeland.
