Is this Life!
I can smell the old grim food that the captain has eaten and thrown at us whilst horrifying dead bodies are left to rot around us or thrown to the sharks. Seagulls screeching for help, people shouting and dragging people into shackles. Just seeing people being thrown into the small room they haven’t done anything wrong. Blistering heat suffocating, people passing out and never waking up, I was terrified in case that happened to me. Thrown into a room with hundreds of people, I’m scared. What’s going to happen to me? What about my family?
Finally it was night, when I was deafened with silence. All that you could hear was the sea whooshing and the salty breeze coming through the gaps on the ship. Nights stalkers all ways left me alone but still took the people close by me to be whipped. Women screaming in agony because they’re giving birth . I try to sleep
So we arrived at our destination everybody started to try escape. When the captain came in and he unlocked us into heaver chains, one by one people get whipped out of the ship. Why can’t I go back home?
I’ve been at this plantation for over six years .Its sale time when I was separated from my sisters. I had to work on the house work. Every time I moved anything the owner whipped . But its better than been on the ship because she feeds me . Every day I wake up at six am to the cockerels early nose alarm. Why is it ok for them to do it to us but were not allowed to do it to them .this house is ginormous and I only have eighteen hours there are about ten rooms and I have to do speck by speck of dust it’s not fair.
After a day of been pushed and whipped just lying in my bed. I suddenly hear whispering going into chanting an African story when I remembered my grandmother use to sing it to me every night (called the story of kirikou and here’s what it’s about).
A couple of centuries ago there was a child who was born called kirikou that always wanted to get the good out of people. Always saw things coming and was happening . Kirikou was a: fast, brave, intelligent and an adventures . Anything or anyone who came to fight karaba she would turn them to objects.
Fetishes are karabas slaves they were robots like minions. Men turned from human beans to objects that stood before her .But the wrest obeyed her with no questions. Karaba didn’t care about no one else but her self . she was evil because of the posioness thorn in her back.
Since kirikou pulled the thorn out. He made karaba kiss him when he suddenly grew into an intelligent and brave young man. when he brought her home every one from the village wanted to kill karaba . But kirikou them and said I’m kirikou and they didn’t belive him until he shoulded his mum and she told the villages that’s my boy.
They both married and the villages never looked at karaba in an evil way again she was part of their family and they all lived happily with in the African village.
