Do you think slavery is alright?

Slavery went on for thousands of years, Greeks, Vikings and Romans were all involved. Slavery was abolished by Britain parliament when William Wilberforce fought to have it ended in 1800’s. By then it had created vast wealth for many countries.

Slave dealers got  thousands of pounds a week just by selling: tobacco, cotton and sugar and so on. Slave dealers traded cheap trinkets for slaves, that way they made more money. No money was given to the slaves that are good for the slave dealers. Six cent equals $1.00 dollar in these days, so if slavery carried on they’d make even more money now.

The excuses used by the for slavery campaign was that taking Africans from Africa made it easier for them to eat and get water. They also get fed more and drink more than they did when they lived in Africa. Slavery was in the bible and approved of by god in the day of Abraham. They argued that African societies and cultures were, unskilled, uneducated and savage.

The anti- slavery society used the bible for back up for their argument. They pointed to biblical text like Luke 16:13 “no man can serve two masters”. The claims of pro-slavery lobby, for example wrote in his pamphlet the just limitation of slavery in the laws of god.

African slavery has been stopped. It took hundreds of years for people to realise that it was wrong.

Slavery was legal when Greeks were around, Roman’s, Vikings and Americans. Americans thought that it was a regular thing to do. It took an English M.P in the 1800’s called William Wilberforce to end the slave trade.

It is a fact that money brought into countries who were involved in the slave trade. All the people who were involved in the slave triangle such as ship owners gained power and influence.

The merchant ship owners and captains become wealthy though the slave trade but were uncomfortable about the possible abolition of slavery. because of this they used many reasons and arguments parliaments to keep the slave trade keep on going for example-Mr Norris (1787) gave false evidence parliament about the treatment of slaves. The reason why they lied was to keep the slave trade going.

William Wilberforce voiced many reasons o stop H e told in his speeches to Parliament that they get whipped most importantly the diseases. They get the worst food- slop. They were treated like animals.

It seems like slavery has been around for a thousand of years since the Vikings and the ancient Greeks Slavery was around well before before the ancient Greeks. An important man called William Wilberforce from Hull took 20 years to try and stop slavery in the 1800’s

Lots of people told lies so they could let slavery continue and maintain their wealth. They would put lots of arguments forward to defend the trade; despite this they told lots of lies  they even said that their accommodation was luxurious and they never had to walk far for water.

Other examples they used were in the bible, argued that slavery was lawful and religious. Other examples, were that they said that they were  well treated and ate good food on the trip as well as playing games.

It was wrong to keep slavery going they used lots of arguments .so they can defend them selves the people who was on the ship got thed up so they
drowned the selves. despite this if they were dyeing  the owners would feed them to the sharks.

Slavery is still around ,and now its gone .a important man called William Wilberforce took years to try and stop slavery. millions of people wanted to suffer die because of this 

Is Slavery OK?

Slavery seems to have been going on for thousands of years  the: Greeks, Romans and later on the Americans were all involved is either selling or using slavery for their own gain. The slave trade made vast amounts of money which went into to the family of sailors, merchants and plantation owners. In the plantation the slave traders bought in the slaves for a few dollars  selling each one, every one making hundreds of dollars profit on each slave sold. If slaves have family’s they sell the children. If you have hundreds of slaves then you’d make pots of cash..

People invented stories to keep trading going, they said that taking Africans from their homeland actually benefited them and that was legal according to the bible. They also caused many arguments in politics stating that the French and Dutch would come and take everything from them if they didn’t trade!

The anti-slavery society was not happy about what was going on and what was going on and decided to shut it down. Wilberforce and his MP friend’s tried for years to stop but it never worked until one day in the 1800’s he won.800,000 slaves were set free. People found evidence of the wretched conditions.

William and his friends stopped this, but it still goes on but not as bad as it was then.

Slavery has been around for 1000’s of years .The Greek, Romans, Vikings and Americans have all been part of the slavery trade. William Wilberforce fought to pass an act to abolish slavery in the British Parliament  in the 1870’s and finally  won the fight before he died. Before then slavery was legal and many people became very wealthy and influential and didn’t want to lose their riches and power.

Believe it or not people thought slavery was alright because it brought much more wealth for all the countries involved (with the slave triangle), and many banks opened because the people became so wealthy. For example: Sugar, cotton and tobacco was purchased by the slave ship owners to be used for trading. This created large Industries in the counties that bought these goods.

Many people went to parliament to continue slavery creating lies to MP’s and people who  didn’t know much about slavery. Slavery was allowed in the bible that’s why so many people allowed it to carry on. They also said that if Britain didn’t engage in trade then others would. This was an argument used in a speech to parliament in 1777 Africa was involved with the slavery trade they stated that Africans enslaved each other.

There were lots of reasons by the anti-slavery group. But they still took many years for people just to understand there point of view. There for there were many lies about slavery that’s why they tried there hardest to get out the truth and then people would understand. This is because there where lots of people that thought blacks were lower than them that why they tried to make slavery carry on.

Slavery has been a huge problem for many generations. It wasn’t until William Wilberforce spoke and spent most of his working life as an MP fighting against it that it was finally solved

For thousands of years slavery was around causing either fortune or misery for many. The Greek’s, Roman’s, Viking’s, Americans and the British Empire have all been involved at some stage.

Before slavery was made illegal, slaves were sold to plantation owners to serve their every command.  In the 1800s William Wilberforce fought to end slavery whilst the slave traders traded slaves and increased their vast wealth and power.

At the start at the slave triangle in the 1700’s the pro-slavery people had many reasons and arguments to show how important it was to Britain. Slavery was said in the bible to be acceptable according to Abraham. There was also a reason that Britain did not engage in the slave trade then others would. The biggest reason used by many was that the economy (business) would collapse because there was so much money being made.

Other reasons that the slave trade didn’t end was because of the wealth that the plantation owners made from selling the cotton, coffee, tobacco and sugar that their slaves had farmed. Therefore there were lots of arguments to defend the slave trade. Some of the reasons that were put forward to Parliament were : ­­ that the slaves weren’t educated in their homeland and so they were unfit for any other work ; then they would be executed in their homeland, make their houses out of twigs and hay they had to walk for miles to get water they had to travel far to get food they have no doors to protect them self’s from animals they have to make beds out of wood and leafs and when they sleep they just feel cold in the winter also there houses can easily get burnt down.

On the other hand there were many reasons and arguments to end slavery. One of these was the Africans have been taken from their homeland, people collected evidence to show that many resisted or preferred death to transportation. Many more died on the voyage to the Caribbean. Conditions on the ships were terrible one incident reported by a ship’s captain stated that during his journey ‘over 100 male slaves’ had thrown themselves over board.

Was slavery right?

There was no  doubt that slavery brought vast and wealthy in to many contras this fouled  slavery for many years as plantation owners where able to gain power and worthiness

The slave trade was necessary for the success   and wealth to Britain .the merchants and plantation owners wanted slavery to continue so that they can keep rich and powerful. So slavery continued  these ranged from the enslaved people where unfit for work many people were very prejudiced  in there belief’s

I think slavery is bad because they get sold and used for slaves and used to do there dirty work for them. One day a man called William Wilberforce  made his first speech to band slavery. The ban against slavery was finally put in place and thousands of slaves where rescued but many died.

There where many reasons against slavery. That the Africans suffered gratefully  from being moved from there homelands Wilberforce collected evidence to show this  he proved that many resisted or preferred to die rather than suffer life on a ship many where punished  and some and some died on board the ship due to the terrible conditions.

Slavery has been around for hundreds of years beginning with the Greeks, Romans and Vikings.

In the 1600’s many innocent people from Africa were enslaved and millions of Africans were shipped to America to become slaves.

The people who thought that slavery had its good points were mainly the people such as the merchant ship owners and plantation owners who became rich from slavery. They believed that the slaves were well looked after, had food and water. The slaves could also have a wash; they had a place to sleep. Captains made an enormous amount of money.One day William Wilberforce decided to change all this.

Slavery is not good  but people said it was a life changing process to keep it going. They told lies about it apparently slaves got nice houses and got to sing and dance and also make pottery.

There were many reasons used by forward Wilberforce and the anti –slavery group against slavery in Britain and around the world. Someof the reasons that were put to be Parliament were: that Africans should treated as equals and not as an inferior race. Wilberforce  also proved that many Africans suffered greatly when they were moved from their homeland and were ill-treated, punished and had to endure such terrible conditions on the ships that thewy preferred  death to life.

Wilberforce caused the suffering of millions to stop when he managed to finally get Parliament to pass a bill on abolishing slavery in Britain.

Slavery has been around for many years beginning from the Egyptians through to modern time in America.There is no doubt that slavery has brought great wealth to many countries and that the slave traders, ship owners and plantation owners all benefited and were the cause of the continuation of the slave trade for many hundreds of years.

The owners of the plantation were able to become very rich after paying only small amounts of money for slaves who work for them for many years. These vast amounts of money gave many lots of power and influence. Banks were opened up due to the profits from the slave trade. Many arguments were used to defend slavery and show how important it was. People lied about how well the slaves were treated. Reports said that they all had plenty of room, fed up to eight times a day and only shackled for their own protection if they were rebellious.  Also many who profited from slavery argued that Britain did not engage in the slave trade then others would do it anyway and their country would become more prosperous than Britain.

There were lots of arguments against slavery used by Wilberforce to the Government in the Houses of Parliament. Wilberforce gave a speech providing evidence that the African slaves suffered by being removed from their homeland and proved to Parliament that they were whipped ill- treated and punished and often preferred death to life as a slave or on board the ship.

Unfortunately slavery took a long time to become abolished in Britain but if it had not been for the work of  Wilberforce many more millions of lives would still be suffering from slavery.
